Mel B On The Spice Girls May 14, 2005 source: Sky Showbiz	Next year is the 10-year anniversary of the Spice Girls. They had nine no.1s in all and, for four years, were top of their game. Since then, Mel B, Victoria, Geri, Emma and Mel C have all made attempts at solo careers with varying success. Melanie Brown - aka Scary Spice - built a moderate fanbase with such tunes as Lullaby and Feel So Good but concentrated on acting whilst based in LA. Now, though, she's back with the release of an album, single...and vague talk of a Spice Girls reunion. Sky put her on the spot on the subject. F People have been obsessed with the idea of a Spice Girls reunion for ages - is it ever going to happen? I think all of us want it. So where is it then? Everyone is doing their own thing at the moment - and it's not going to be 10 years until next year. We'll see what everyon's doing; maybe it'll happen, maybe it won't. I don't know. But surely at least one of you is always going to be busy? How will you ever find a time when you're all free? Well, we're going to have the greatest hits come out anyway ,so it would be nice to do something. Somebody suggested today we do it in Vegas. I was like, 'That's good!' Elton John's done it, Celine Dion's done it. We'll make a killing! Not sure the Brits would like you having the reunion in America, though - I reckon they'd be rather disgruntled! You can get cheap flights to Vegas! They can have a holiday at the same time. So, as much as we all love to think there was a big drama and you all fell out - that isn't the case? We probably don't talk or see each other as much as we should because we're all pretty busy, but we're all friends. I don't think there are any bad vibes between us. That's quite amazing; you know what girls can be like. We were always quite up front with each other - we'd just say if we were annoyed. You have been doing tons of acting but now you've returned to the solo career. How come? I wrote an album in my kitchen looking at the view of LA. I wrote it a year ago and just thought it was nice, then I played it to a few people and they said, 'You've got to get it out.' The single, Today, is very upbeat and catchy. Is the album, LA State Of Mind, full of songs like that or are there some ballads in there too? I've got a slow one about Phoenix (Mel B's daughter by ex-husband Jimmy Gulzar), which is really heartfelt, and then I have a spiritual piano one. Then there's a salsa one and a punky one. But my soothing dulcet tones stay the same throughout! Before this you were busy on stage and screen, including a stint in the musical Rent on Broadway. I had to be really disciplined, but I got to live with my mum - which you'd think would be a nightmare, but actually it was really nice. She looked after Phoenix while I did the show every night. Then you returned to your house in Los Angeles. Is that where you prefer to be these days? Yes, I like it. I have a great group of English friends. Phoenix has a great time, she's at a great school and it's an outdoor life for both of us, very freeing and laid back. So is Phoenix quite the little American kid? Yes and no. All we hang out with are English people really, but she does have a bit of an American accent, because she goes to a school full of American kids. When I pick her up from school, it's really American then, by the time she goes to bed, it's kind of American/northern! I don't know what's worse! Is she all-singing and all-dancing like you? No, she's a tomboy - she likes basketball and skateboarding.      So are you going to stay there? And where do your priorities lie - with singing or acting? I like doing a mixture of things. I love doing music and, having had Phoenix, I want to be in one place. I didn't want to live in London forever, I wanted to travel and let Phoenix see the world. I figured I could only do that until she's in school, then I had to settle somewhere. I needed to be in a place where I could work and LA is one of the biggest film industries, so I thought I'd try that. When you get knocked back for parts, do you find that hard or is your ego big enough, after all the previous success, to handle it?! I auditioned a lot before the Spice Girls so I'm used to it - and it's kind of refreshing, because you can't have everything, can you? It gives me energy to want to do it even more.   Mel's album, LA State Of Mind, is due to be released on 20 June. The prelude single, Today, is out on 6 June.

In an explicit interview that gives a startling insight into the weird world of the former Ginger Spice, she tells how she... CRAVES passionate romps with 21-year-old toyboys but... MAKES new lovers wait three months for sex then orders them to have tests for Aids. SENDS staff to sex shops to buy vibrators in bulk and has injections of sexually-stimulating vitamins. DESPISES men as "spineless disgusting dogs" but is convinced SHE would make a good bloke. YEARNS for a baby more than a No.1 hit. TREATS her two pet dogs as surrogate children - though she doesn't clean up after them. SCOFFS sausage and mash after conquering her slimming obsession. Details from the new TV documentary leaked to The People reveal the obsessions, cravings and downright peculiar views of the 32-year-old multi-millionairess. Geri, who sang her new single on ITV's CD:UK yesterday, says: "I want sex - lots of it. I really do like young guys because they match my sexual libido. I think about sex a lot since I hit 30. "I try not to have sex with them for three months otherwise you don't know what they are like. "In that time I say 'You have to go and have an Aids test and be tested for absolutely everything'. "Condoms are OK. But if you want to take the condom off you have to get tested. I think it's really good and men respect you if you lay down rules." Geri amazingly confesses to being a big fan of sex toys - especially the Anne Summers sex shop chain's top-selling vibrator the Rampant Rabbit. Her wacky idea of giving a friend a birthday present is sending a vibrator with a note saying "I hope this Bunny transforms your life as much as it has mine." Her personal assistant reveals she has made several trips to Anne Summers and bought "about 15 rabbits in five months". Geri laughs and says: "They are very good for relaxation. And after spinning out of control onto a grass verge she burst into tears and stormed off. She was then seen sobbing like a child and yelling: "It was so horrible. I hated it. It was so bad!" She only calmed down when her manager gushed: "Geri, you were awesome!" And after another rant about men she stopped, thought for a second and admitted: "I hate it when I get like this.
